"Mike's Modern Home Theater Transformation" Mike embarks on a challenging home theater project, aiming to transform an outdated basement into a modern, elegant, and inviting space for friends. The room makeover involves four stages of evolution, with a focus on integrating tech seamlessly. Mike introduces the Kestrel Tab-Tension 3 electric rising screen by Elite Screens, a 122-inch wide screen with a Tab-Tension design for a ripple-free image. The Hisense PX1-Pro ultra short throw projector, with 2,200 lumens and vibrant colors, complements the screen perfectly, offering a lag-free gaming experience. To address cable clutter, Mike utilizes IKEA BESTA units to house the projector, creating a smooth sliding mechanism for control. A custom-built shelf is designed to raise the projection screen to avoid cutting off the top of the image, showcasing Mike's newfound woodworking skills. Additional cabinets are added, with glossy white cover panels and push openers for a modern aesthetic. To elevate the look further, a walnut wrap is added using special plywood with a walnut veneer, creating a premium finish with a waterfall edge effect. Govee neon light strips are installed between the cabinets and the wrap, enhancing the aesthetic and providing customizable lighting options. Sennheiser's AMBEO Soundbar Plus, with nine speakers and a wireless subwoofer, completes the home theater setup, offering immersive 3D surround sound with a minimalist and modern design. 10:46
"Dark Blue Wall Creates Cozy Atmosphere" Painting the biggest wall dark blue creates a moody and cozy atmosphere, contrasting with white walls and cabinet doors. Sconces from Home Depot were chosen to blend with the wall, adding a modern touch to the room. A small ledge at the bottom of the wall was painted black to make it blend in and disappear in the room. A light strip was placed on the ledge to create a futuristic look, with two by fours used to cover and hide the light source. Govee M1 strip lights were used for brightness and color options, controllable through an app. Cork wall was transformed into an accent wall using slat wall panels by Andor Willow in walnut, quickly and easily installed with a circular saw. Smart motorized cellular shades from SmartWings were installed for the window, powered by a hidden battery and controllable with a remote or Alexa. Furniture from Article was chosen for quality and comfort, including the Sven Charme Tan Sofa, Vena Walnut Rectangular Coffee Table, and Roscoe Walnut Tall Bookcase. Sennheiser Soundboard Plus with built-in Alexa was used for smart home automations, controlling lights, blinds, and ambient lighting wirelessly.
